Carbofuran is a “Restricted Use” pesticide that targets mites and nematodes in the soil, leaves, fruits and other parts of the plant upon ingestion or on contact.
Short-term exposure to liquid forms of this broad-spectrum carbamate insecticide can be toxic to humans if inhaled. Granular forms were widely used prior to 1994, but was banned for its extreme toxicity to birds.
