Chlorpyrifos is a broad-spectrum insecticide, effective in controlling a wide variety of insects.
Used most commonly on corn, it is moderately toxic (Toxicology Category II) to humans, and affects the cardiovascular, respiratory, and central nervous systems. It is currently being phased out and restricted from use on tomatoes and other fruit for safety concerns regarding children.
